Comic Verse
Your personalized gateway to the comic book universe.

The problem Comic Verse addresses is the challenge that comic book enthusiasts face in finding the right comic book for their interests. Existing platforms may lack personalised recommendations, making it difficult to navigate multiple platforms for purchasing. Comic Verse seeks to solve these pain points by offering tailored recommendations, convenient online purchasing options, and more.
Comic books have been an integral part of literature and entertainment for decades, captivating readers with vivid stories, iconic characters, and breathtaking visuals. Over time, the world of comic books has evolved, expanding its influence beyond print media to digital platforms, movies, and merchandise.
In the digital age, where user experiences have been significantly enhanced across various sectors, it's essential that comic book platforms also evolve to meet the expectations of modern readers. Despite the remarkable advancements in user experiences, many comic book websites have not yet embraced these changes to their full potential. There is immense potential for improvement, particularly in terms of user engagement, personalization, and convenience. Hence, I started working on Comic Verse.
User Research
From the surveys and user interviews, I discovered that there are many websites offering detailed comic book info and suggestions. However, I found that the current available websites have some problems. It lacks proper content organization, consistency, and a clear chronological order for comic books. Most importantly, users want personalized recommendations.

In response to these findings, I focused on improving these issues to make the platform more user-friendly and enjoyable for comic book enthusiasts. To address these concerns, I've decided to introduce the following functionalities in Comic Verse 1.0:

1. Personalized Recommendations: A feature that provides personalized comic book recommendations through an interactive quiz.

2. Advanced Filtering: Users will be able to filter comic books based on genres, chronological order, publications, and more, making it easier to find what they're looking for.

3. Purchase Information: Will provide users with information about where to buy comic books and the associated prices, offering a convenient shopping experience.

4. Event Updates: Users will also receive timely information about comic book-related events happening in their area, ensuring they stay connected to the comic book community and never miss out."

This addition explains the specific enhancements that will be introduced in Comic Verse 1.0 to address the identified issues and meet the users' needs.
Persona Building
Target Audience
This platform targets a diverse group of users, including comic book fans, avid collectors, and enthusiasts of specific franchises like Marvel or DC. Additionally, there are secondary users, such as friends and family of comic book fans, who visit the platform to find information about comic book events and discover online platforms for purchasing comic books.
Personas

These personas provide a deeper understanding of the varied users who will engage with the Comic Verse platform. By considering their distinct goals and needs, the platform can tailor its features and content to enhance the user experience for each persona, ensuring that Edward, Bella, Nishi, and others find value and enjoyment in their comic book journeys.
Competitor's Analysis
Several platforms exist that offer comic book-related content, recommendations, and community engagement. However, most of these platforms suffer from cluttered user interfaces, chaotic content structure, limited personalization, and lack of tailored content recommendations. Some existing platforms focus on specific genres or franchises, while others provide a broader array of content but struggle to create a cohesive and enjoyable user experience.

Based on the analysis of few comic books based website I made a list of strengths and weaknesses.

Strengths

1. Comprehensive Reading Guides: Comic Book Herald's success in providing detailed reading guides is commendable. Consider incorporating a similar feature in Comic Verse to guide users through complex comic book storylines and events.
2. Diverse Content: Emulate Comic Book Herald's approach to offering a wide range of content. This diversity can cater to readers with varying levels of experience and interests.
3. Community Engagement: Fostering a sense of community among comic book enthusiasts, as done by Comic Book Herald through forums and discussions, can enhance user engagement on Comic Verse.
4. Diverse Catalog: Like Marvel Comics, maintain a diverse catalog of comic book genres on Comic Verse to appeal to a broad audience.

Weaknesses

1. Focus on Mainstream and Niche Comics: While mainstream comics are essential, ensure that Comic Verse also highlights niche and independent titles. Address the needs of readers interested in exploring less well-known comic book genres.

2. Newcomer-Friendly Approach: Take a page from "How to Love Comics" by maintaining a newcomer-friendly approach. Make Comic Verse accessible for those new to comic books with clear guidance and recommendations.

3. Curated Reading Lists: Develop curated reading lists similar to "How to Love Comics." These lists simplify the process of finding comics aligned with users' interests and can enhance their browsing experience.

4. Balanced Continuity: Learn from Marvel Comics' challenge of continuity. Strive to create a balanced approach where users can engage with long-running series without feeling overwhelmed. Provide tools to help readers understand and navigate complex continuity.

5. Avoid Event Fatigue: Be cautious not to overwhelm users with frequent crossover events. While such events can be exciting, ensure that they do not disrupt the main storylines and make it challenging for users to follow.

By combining the best aspects of these existing resources while addressing their limitations, Comic Verse can position itself as a user-centric, diverse, and accessible platform for comic book enthusiasts. Now, after thorough research I started working on the low fidelity design of the platform.
Low fidelity design & User Feedback
Low fidelity design is part of the design process, I made sketches of all the essential pages of the Comic Verse and later did the user testing of it. After presenting the low-fidelity design of Comic Verse to a diverse group of users and gathering valuable feedback, several key insights and opportunities for improvement were identified.
This feedback has played a crucial role in refining the user experience and making the platform more user-friendly. Here are some of the takeaways and proposed design improvements:
Users found the "Calendar" page's functionality to be somewhat similar to the "Events" page.
Add a search bar functionality to the navigation bar for improved user convenience.
Users recommended changing the layout of filters from horizontal to vertical for a more intuitive user experience.

Users suggested adding tags to comic book descriptions to aid in user understanding and enhance SEO.

Each step incorporated user feedback, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience. Further user testing and refinement were carried out to address usability concerns.
